While working on the brand identity and interior design for Block, a butcher shop and cocktail bar that Band has been working on, we knew that we wanted to include some custom artwork in the space. After some thought, we knew that our buddy Harrison Freeman would be a perfect fit for the job. So, together with the Block owners, we commissioned him to paint a piece to give Block’s interior some artistic charm. Presented with a blank canvas that Zach built at ADX, we gave Harry free reign over his subject choice for the bar’s artwork.
In a sweet turn of events, Harry hired his ladyfriend Sarah as a model for the five-foot tall painting. Harry’s unique illustrative style captures subtle gestures and expressive emotions beautifully; all in simple, quirky strokes of paint. When the creative process got under way, I dropped by his place to spend some time sharing a few laughs and a challenging game of Taboo. While I may not have won the game, I did manage to score a few snaps of Harry working away, which we hope you enjoy. Check out more of Harry’s rad work here!
